Luton-Zagreb-Luton. Free seating scrum like no other, but anyone can pay £5 to sit in one of the 12 over-wing emergency exits. You are also invited to pay another £5 for priority boarding which you may or may not be given. Usually on time, but no contingency plans for flight delays or passenger care when things go wrong. There are no Wizz staff or agents in Zagreb and the Wizz air crew only seem to have lip service for the airport. You can call a premium rate customer service line in Hungary for flight information (if you get through). Zagreb airport staff have heard it all before and treat Wizz passengers like unwelcome guests. Apparently Wizz are supposed to have taken delivery of new A320 Airbus jets, but most of the seats seem to be from another aircraft. Friday 11th April 2008, they delayed the plane for 20 hours in Zagreb telling passengers that the aircraft had been struck by lightning. 17:00 became 20:00 which became 22:00 however the crew had left hours before. The airport told us to be in the airport at 06:00 the next morning for a 08:00 departure, but the crew did not turn up again until 10:00 when they haggled with ground staff over catering costs and landing fees until mid afternoon. My suggestion to anyone thinking of flying Wizz is that this airline is best suited to the very young and/or the very poor.

Arrived at Wroclaw airport Friday 18th – flight to Luton cancelled. No Wizzair staff at airport. No explanation, no information. By the time we got seen, last flight to any London airport that day had left. Offered (if room) seats on Wizzair Monday, or pay 1800 (£450) for 2 tickets Ryanair to East Midlands that day. Took tickets and were assured would get refund from Wizzair. No offer of food, hotel, phone calls – as stated in their documentation. No warning of cancellation – again as stated. Got claim form from airport staff – but looking at details, only applied if we get a Wizzair flight – even though their Conditions of Carriage say that an alternative Low-cost carrier is acceptable.

Zagreb – London Luton. Passengers boarded with 20 minute delay. Passenger taken off the plane. One hour delay announced. After five hours two completely different information – call center operator no 1 – passengers will start boarding any minute, call center operator no 2 – flight is not cancelled, it is technically just delayed. Come back tomorrow morning at 5 am. Flight scheduled for 8.00 am. Wizzair did not organise hotel accommodation, transportation for passengers. Couple of small kids present – around 3 years old. No Wizzair representative at the airport. Airport Zagreb did not take over the initiative to help passengers. Wizzair does not have a phone number on their web page where passengers from Croatia can call. They had to contact their friends from UK – a friend has spent 150 GBP to find out latest information which was anyway a complete lie made by call center people, who can hardly speak English. A typical customer ignorance. The airplane took of at 4pm next day – with 24 hours delay. Wizzair manipulated the passengers, airport staff and simply has put on the same plane passengers from 2 different days.

Luton-Budapest return. I would give them zero stars if this were possible. Delays on both legs, no explanations, no apologies and in general the staff just don’t give a damn. Tried to buy food on the plane, they had no change, no credit card machine and therefore I had no food. The worst thing about them is probably the complete lack of commitment and dedication.

Belfast to Katowice return. Generally very good. This was really a workers flight in both directions with mostly Poles going home and return to Northern Ireland. All very normal with little delay in either direction. Onboard catering buy your own – OK but it is advisable to bring your own snacks. Unfortunately arrived in Poland at about midnight and didnt realize the distance to Krawcov was about 65 miles but fortunately Wizz Air has a mini bus service in either direction and arrived in Krawcov about 0130 and got a taxi to Sheraton Hotel which was excellent. The late travel after 2300 hrs normally doubles in price so it cost 200 instead of 100 swaty which works out at about 5 to the GBP. First time on Wizz Air and to Poland but generally no problems. The Polish experience was quite enjoyable.

I have never flown Wizz Air and never intend to. We tried to fly from Tirgu Mures (Transylvania) to Budapest. First, out flight was delayed 8 hours. We returned to the airport at the appointed time, check our luggage, got our passports stamped, then waited and waited. Plane never came. No one gave us any information. I finally called , waited on hold, and an agent told me that 100 percent a plane would come. None did. We could not leave to take any other transportation because they had our luggage and passports were already stamped. We had to go back through immigration finally to leave the airport – no other flight for 3 days! We took a train, but had to travel to another City to do so. Now Wizz Air refuses to refund our ticket. So much for a discount airlines – this is costing us a lot more than any flight!

A regular traveller between UK and Eastern Europe. Do not expect information about delays and cancellations until the last minute – there is no way to speak directly to Wizz staff and the only way to contact them is via e-mail to customer service – even then, don’t expect a reply! Take your own food – the onboard catering is a disgrace! The ground service varies massively between countries and on the aircraft. Taxes and surcharges – make sure you factor them in, they are excessive on Wizzair compared to easyJet. The low fares of the first 2 years are gone now – check regular carriers such as LOT and BA for similar priced tickets with advantage of mainstream airports and facilities. Its one of the new breed of low-cost airlines so expect to pay heavily for any extra’s such as over baggage allowance / food / drink etc. etc.

Have used Wizzair twice (soon to be the 3rd time) flying from Luton to Timisoara. Every flight was over 90% full, so must be a good route for them. Had good no frills service so far, and no delays – though will expect delays at some point. You get what you pay for – also watch out for excess baggage charges! Won’t give them a 5 as their website kept showing an “unknown error” just as booking was about to be completed, meaning having to phone them at £1/min and pay extra charges. First time paid for extra legroom, second time only priority boarding was available, which was ok. Why can’t low cost airlines allocate seats at check-in, or let you do it online?? Surely it’s only a simple computer program to avoid the unnecessary mad scramble for the best seats.

Wizz Air is unreliable and cannot be recommended. I booked eight seats from Simferopol to Kiev to fly on April 29th and only on the 20th was notified that the schedule was changed to four hours earlier. This would have made a 3am start, instead of 7am and I could not expect my group to like this. It was murder finding another airline and flight to take us, at a convenient time. No apology. They agreed a refund, supposed to be paid within 10 days. Then once bitten twice shy I decided to look at the schedule for a flight on July 28th that I had also booked with Wizz from Kiev to Simferopol for July 28th. I found to my astonishment that this was rescheduled to four hours later and I would miss catching the last bus. Wizz hadn’t bothered to notify me. Again no apology. Again they agreed a refund, supposed to be paid within 10 days again

We flew Wizz Air Luton to Budapest April 2009. The outward flight was okay. Unfortunately, coming home was another matter. We arrived 2 hours ahead of our flight time of 17.50 & checked in then found out that the flight was delayed 6 hours! No explanation was given & when we suggested we go back top town to a spa for the time they insisted we stay so we wasted a further 6 hours at Ferigy terminal 1. They did give us some food vouchers but I lost £75 on my train ticket home to Bristol. We eventually got to Luton around midnight so any hope of trains was gone. I would never ever use Wizzair again – I’d put it on a par with Ryanair for poor customer service.
